Music that Inspires

Music that inspires me today is Shine, Jesus, Shine.  It is one of my “go-to” songs.  Whenever I hear of some great tragedy—a mass murder, rioting, violent clashes of opposing protesters, I always listen to this song by Graham Kendrick. This is music that inspires because it implores God to make Himself known by shining through the darkness in the nation and the darkness within me.  I’m inspired to pray.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says that “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.”  I often wonder if the decline and distress of any nation isn’t due in large part to an absence of prayer and humility in God’s people.  If our behaviors and attitudes are no different than that of the heathens and surrounding culture, what can we expect.

May this music inspire you to let God’s light search and try you.  I pray that you will examine your own heart and ways.  Who can say how much tragedy is averted, and how much more can be avoided when God’s people humbly seek His face, pray for His enlightenment, guidance and correction?  The effective, fervent prayer of the righteous can truly avail much for both individuals and nations.
