New Year’s Resolution 2018

“Forgetting those things which are behind, I press on for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Phillipians 3:13-14).  That’s my resolution for 2018.

Many years ago (exactly how many I don’t recall), I made a resolution to make no more New Year’s resolutions.  I stuck to that and was faithful to it all the years since, but now I feel I should reinstitute the practice of making resolutions.  Why?  Because it gives me something to aim at, a target, a goal.

So whatever I did not attain or do, wherever I fell short in the past, that can’t be changed and I’m putting it behind me.  I’m looking ahead to something before me—to launching a writing ministry.  To quote Phillipians 3:12, it is “not that have already attained or am already perfected, but I press on that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has laid hold of me.”  Where this adventure will lead, and what will become of it, I do not know.  I only know that I must begin.
